Author Description Until his retirement in 1999 John Howe served as history professor and former Associate Dean of the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota. A specialist in American history, he earned his doctorate in history from Yale University and taught at Princeton and Dartmouth before moving to the University of Minnesota in 1965.
